Entry level of our recreational program for artistic gymnastics. Perfect class for girls with no gymnastics experience. It will introduce young ladies to each of the 4 events of Woman’s gymnastics – balance beam, uneven bars, vault and floor exercise - and teach some of the basic skills needed in order to progress. Dance is also introduced. Class provides great athletic foundation and skills for any sport she decides to pursue in the future. BEGIN HERE - GO ANYWHERE
Class begins with a warm up and stretching to prepare muscles for the rest of the class. The coach will choose a few of the events to work on for each class. On the floor girls will learn forward and backward rolls and handstands and begin to lay the foundation for basic tumbling skills. Balance beam and uneven bars will challenge the girls to face any fear of heights. They will walk forward, backward, and sideways on the balance beam. For a complete set of skills see the skill evaluation chart. The class always has time for the trampoline and foam pit – a favorite part of the class. A great balance of learning and fun!
We do evaluate students in this class. The actual Poster for this level is available in the office after you sign for the class. Progress reports are provided to students and family after evaluation dates, followed by our Skill Reward System. Each time an evaluation is done in the class, each student will receive a record of her accomplishments. This record will become available for review at our website under My Account / View Skills. After all required skills are mastered and endorsed by the coach, the student/family will receive a Recommendation Letter to move to the next level class.
Note: The school retains records on the progress of each student to assist in class placement in future sessions. If you’re concerned and need a second opinion, you can schedule a personal evaluation for your student. By appointment only! Please call the office for availability.
